Peraso Launches 60-GHz PRM2145 Module for UAV and Defense Communications
The PRM2145 builds on Peraso’s existing 60‑GHz millimeter‑wave (mmWave) platform. It delivers gigabit‑class throughput and ultra‑low latency, features that are important for real‑time command and control, high‑definition video, intelligence‑surveillance‑and‑reconnaissance (ISR) data, identification friend or foe (IFF) links and drone‑to‑drone communications. The design incorporates advanced beamforming to create highly directional links that are difficult to detect, intercept or disrupt.
Peraso’s CEO Ronald Glibbery said the module was created to meet the growing demand for secure, high‑bandwidth, jam‑resistant links in challenging radio‑frequency environments. “Autonomous systems are becoming an increasingly important component of modern defense, security, and commercial operations, creating significant demand for advanced communications solutions,” Glibbery said. “The PRM2145 was specifically developed to address this opportunity by utilizing Peraso’s industry‑leading mmWave expertise to address the unique requirements of UAV communications.”
Vice President of Business Development Mike Hamilton added that the PRM2145 expands Peraso’s presence beyond fixed wireless access. “We continue to see substantial interest in secure communications technologies for defense and autonomous systems, and we believe the PRM2145 strengthens our position in these attractive and expanding markets,” Hamilton said.
The module is lightweight and compact, a requirement for airborne platforms that must limit weight and power consumption. It supports both point‑to‑point and networked communications and is intended for rapid integration into a broad range of platforms, including tactical drones, loitering munitions, ISR systems, autonomous ground vehicles and advanced robotic systems.
Peraso Inc., listed on the Nasdaq under ticker PRSO, has focused on 60‑GHz mmWave technology for several years. Its product line includes chipsets, modules, software and intellectual property that serve fixed wireless access, drone, defense, immersive video and factory automation markets.
The company’s press release notes that the PRM2145 is a forward‑looking product. It contains statements about expected availability, performance and market adoption, and it lists a range of risks that could affect the realization of those expectations. These include technical performance in field conditions, manufacturing supply, export‑control compliance, defense procurement cycles and broader market demand.
At present, the PRM2145 is not yet available for purchase. Peraso is preparing for a Q4 2026 launch and is working with potential customers to evaluate the module’s suitability for their specific UAV and autonomous system requirements.
The announcement comes amid continued growth in the commercial and defense drone markets, where operators increasingly require secure, high‑throughput links that can operate in congested or contested spectrum. Peraso’s 60‑GHz solution offers an alternative to lower‑frequency radios, providing higher data rates and improved resistance to jamming.
Peraso’s next steps include finalizing the module’s hardware design, completing any necessary certification, and engaging with potential customers for field trials. The company has not yet disclosed pricing or detailed technical specifications beyond the general performance claims.
