IRCTC Launches Beta Website to Simplify Ticket Booking
The beta site streamlines the booking process through several design choices. Seat availability across all classes is now displayed on a single screen, eliminating the need to check each class separately. The redesign was shaped with input from students at the Malaviya National Institute of Technology (MNIT) in Jaipur. During a meeting with Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, the students reviewed the beta portal and suggested improvements to its look and feel. Their feedback was incorporated into the public trial version, and the students were formally included in the design process.
The Ministry of Railways has made clear that the beta release is a trial phase. Passengers are encouraged to use the new site and submit suggestions on the simplified features. The feedback collected during this period will inform adjustments before the website is fully launched. A link to the beta portal is also displayed on the main IRCTC website, making it easy for users to access the new interface.
