From the streets of Donostia to the aisles of tomorrow’s warehouses, TrebezIA is set to bring AI‑powered mobile robots into the heart of logistics. Founded in late 2024, the startup is preparing to industrialise its first autonomous mobile robot, a compact platform equipped with a robotic arm that uses 3D perception and artificial intelligence to identify, pick, and transport boxes of varying sizes without the need for re‑programming.

The robot marries a nimble mobile base with a versatile arm, allowing it to navigate tight spaces while handling products that differ in shape and size. According to the company, the system tackles a persistent intralogistics challenge: the 20 % of warehouse flows that still require manual intervention because existing automation struggles with diverse product geometries.

TrebezIA’s technology roots trace back to TECNALIA, the Spanish research centre that transferred a mature prototype to the startup. The robot employs real‑time 3D perception to detect objects and obstacles, dynamic path‑planning algorithms for manoeuvring in confined aisles, and autonomous navigation that lets it share space safely with human workers. The AI layer grants the robot the flexibility to adapt to new products and environments without customer‑side re‑programming.

Target markets include industrial logistics operators, pharmaceutical distributors, supermarket chains, logistics companies, and large retailers. The company projects a return on investment within two to three years once the solution is deployed.

The idea emerged from market needs identified between 2021 and 2023. Pharmaceutical and supermarket clients highlighted difficulties in automating certain picking tasks, prompting TECNALIA to develop a prototype based on its flexible robotics research. After commercial validation with potential customers, the startup was formally established at the end of 2024.

TrebezIA has benefited from several Basque programmes. It was selected in the first edition of Basque Tek Ventures and has since received support through Ekintzaile, BDIH Konexio, and Innobideak Fast Track. Basque Country Venture Capital Management holds a €250,000 equity stake in the company, and TrebezIA was one of 20 startups chosen from 882 applications to participate in BIND Corporate, a programme that connects early‑stage firms with major industrial and logistics players.

Today the company is validating its robot with Novaltia in the pharmaceutical sector and aims to close its first commercial sales by the end of 2026. Parallel to this, TrebezIA is developing a second project focused on mobile palletising for food distribution. The startup also plans to expand internationally, with an appearance scheduled at LogiMAT Stuttgart in March 2027, one of Europe’s leading intralogistics trade fairs.

Current priorities include finalising validation with Novaltia, securing additional funding through Basque programmes, and preparing for LogiMAT. Uncertainties remain regarding the exact timeline for full market deployment and the robot’s scalability across different warehouse layouts.
