BYD India Launches Sealion 7 Dynamic Variant at Rs 41.90 Lakh to Expand Premium EV Lineup
The Dynamic variant is powered by a 71.8 kWh Blade Battery, the same lithium‑iron‑phosphate (LFP) pack used in BYD’s other electric models. According to the company, the battery delivers a claimed NEDC range of 520 km and the vehicle can accelerate from 0‑100 km/h in 7.3 seconds. The trim joins the existing Premium and Performance versions, giving customers three configurations to choose from.
Key features carried over from the higher‑trim models include BYD’s Blade Battery and the company’s Cell‑to‑Body construction, which integrates the battery pack into the vehicle’s structure for added safety and space efficiency. The Dynamic also offers an Intelligence Torque Adaptation Control system, a panoramic glass roof, and a rotating touchscreen infotainment unit. A suite of safety and driver‑assistance features is standard, though the specific components were not detailed in the launch announcement.
To support the launch, BYD India is running its “Celebrate Your Dreams with BYD” festive campaign. Buyers of the Dynamic variant receive a complimentary 7 kW home charger with installation, a 10‑year RSA coverage extension, and an extended warranty that covers the low‑voltage battery for up to 10 years or 150 000 km, whichever comes first. The variant is available in four exterior colours – Atlantis Grey, Cosmos Black, Aurora White and Shark Grey.
The Dynamic trim is priced roughly eight lakh rupees lower than the Premium variant, according to a report in The Economic Times. The same source noted that the Sealion 7 has already sold over 4 000 units in India, indicating steady demand for BYD’s premium EVs.
BYD India operates 49 showrooms across 40 cities and has crossed 15 000 customers in the country. The company’s expansion into India follows its broader strategy to grow its EV presence outside China, where BYD Auto has become the world’s largest electric carmaker.
The Blade Battery, first introduced in 2020, is a proprietary LFP design that offers improved safety, longer cycle life and better thermal stability compared with conventional cylindrical cells. BYD’s FinDreams Battery subsidiary manufactures the Blade cells, and the technology is a core element of the company’s competitive advantage in the EV market.
The launch of the Dynamic variant signals BYD India’s intent to broaden its premium SUV lineup while keeping the price point within reach of a wider customer base. By offering a lower‑priced trim that still retains many of the premium features, BYD aims to attract buyers who are interested in the brand’s safety and technology but are sensitive to cost.
At present, the Dynamic variant is the most affordable entry into the Sealion 7 range. The company has not announced any further price reductions or additional trims, but the launch is part of a broader push to increase EV penetration in India’s rapidly growing automotive market.
The introduction of the Dynamic variant comes as BYD India continues to promote its EV portfolio through showroom expansions, promotional campaigns and extended warranty offers. The company’s next steps will likely involve monitoring sales performance, adjusting pricing strategies and potentially adding new variants or battery options to meet evolving customer demand.
